Honor 80 GT Design and Chipset Revealed

The Honor 80 GT is expected to launch soon.

This will be the fourth Honor smartphone to launch in the 80 series, and it will be introduced alongside the new Honor Pad V8 Pro tablet. It is rumored to have a unique design and powerful chipset.

The new Honor 80 GT is reportedly a high-end flagship model. It will be sold as a gaming powerhouse. The Honor 80 GT will also feature a dedicated chip for gaming, which should enable an ultra-fast refresh rate. As part of its marketing strategy, Honor is expected to include this device in its upcoming Chinese gaming announcements.

Earlier this month, Honor teased a new device on its Weibo company page. The company posted a full-size picture of the phone. At first glance, it appears to be a standard phone, with a unique back design and pill-shaped cutout for the selfie camera. But, on closer inspection, the back of the device has a camera module with chrome accents around it.

Aside from the design of the phone, Honor also revealed the chipset used. The Honor 80 GT will be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chip, with support for up to 16GB of RAM. In addition, it will also have a 66W fast charging system and a 144Hz display.

On the front, the Honor 80 GT will have a punch-hole display. The device will feature an OLED panel with a 1224 x 2700 resolution and an LED flash. Moreover, it will feature a triple camera setup. The primary camera will be a 54-megapixel sensor. Another camera will be installed on the lower half of the phone. The secondary camera will be a Sony IMX800 sensor.

In addition to the chipset and the display, the Honor 80 GT will feature a 4,900mAh battery. However, this battery will be smaller than the battery on the Honor 70. That said, the battery capacity should be competitive with other phones on the market, especially when considering that it has a smaller screen.

In China, the Honor 80 GT will be launched on December 26. The handset will be priced at 3,000 Yuan, which is roughly $429. Moreover, the device will be available in two colors: gold and black. Interestingly, the device will not have a 3.5mm headphone jack. Moreover, the device will be 7.9mm thick.

The company also released a teaser poster revealing the new phone. According to the poster, the Honor 80 GT will be a gaming device. And the power key on the side will not have a fingerprint scanner. While the logo on the power key is plain, the volume rocker on the right side is a bit different.

It is also expected that the Honor 80 GT will have a special display chip. A dedicated chip is designed to reduce stress on the GPU, which should provide for an ultra-fast refresh rate. If this chip is indeed present, the device may even support a 360Hz touch sampling rate.
